Plan N

Another popular Medicare Supplement plan on the market is the Plan N. While this plan offers a more affordable premium, it also has more out-of-pocket expenses including copayments and deductibles.

With a Plan N, you have up to a $20 copay for each doctor/office visit and, unless admitted, a $50 copay for each emergency room visit. In addition, you would be responsible for any Part B excess charges (above Medicare-approved amounts).

Like Plan G, the Medicare Supplement Plan N does not cover the Part B deductible. You are responsible for the first $240 of Medicare-approved medical charges each calendar year. This is the Medicare Part B deductible as of 2024.

  • Medicare Part A coinsurance and hospital costs (up to an additional 365 days after Medicare benefits are used)

  • Medicare Part A deductible

  • Medicare Part A hospice care coinsurance or copayments

  • Skilled nursing facility coinsurance or copayments

  • First 3 pints of blood

  • Foreign travel emergency (80% up to plan limits)

After the Part B deductible has been met:

  • Medicare Part B coinsurance or copayment (copays apply)

  • Medicare Part B deductible

  • Medicare Part B excess charge

  • Medicare Part B copays of up to $20 per office visit and up to $50 per emergency room visit, unless admitted

* No Medicare Supplement plan pays for a skilled nursing home facility beyond 100 days.
